Macedonia
This series was captured during a climbing trip through North Macedonia in autumn 2024. We camped on the field of a retired policeman, who greeted us each morning with his sheep and the warmest smile. Traveling by car, we climbed in some of the most beautiful landscapes we’ve ever seen—though often surrounded by trash brought in from the city and burned in the open. Our days shifted between living like total outsiders—camping in dusty fields—and feeling like royalty when eating out, where a full meal costs about two-thirds less than back home in Austria. The contrast was striking: raw beauty, everyday struggle.
